Joel was watching The Harry Dime Show with Sofia’s stepfather. It was Clayton’s favorite show. Sofia was in the kitchen playing nine-month catch-up with her mother. Her younger brother, Chris, arrived into town an hour after them but had since gone bar hopping with his buddies (“I have to get the smell of bus people off me.”).

“Thank you. Thank you,” said Harry Dime. The stagehands took off his jacket and vanished. He was in black pants and the original shirt. He held up the tiger-skin tie. “Took three Siberians to make this. Lazy sons-of-bitches.” Drums played, the crowd giggled. “Great show ahead. Naturally I’m excited. We got Max Adams from the award-winning series TOP COPS. We got the beautiful Erika Doray, Big Sid City, plus many more: Pete Stevens, Wade Farley, Lauren Shiraz. Stick around.”

In the background two stagehands dropped Harry’s desk. He strolled to the studio band and fired the trombonist. The musician relayed his brass to Harry who joined them and then went ballistic with the horn section. Commercial break.
